Major Dutch soccer club PSV, also known by PSV Eindhoven announced Tuesday that it will use Anycoin Direct to mine bitcoin. The Eindhoven-based professional football club plays in the Eredivisie. This is the highest tier of Dutch football.
“PSV signed a unique partnership to Anycoin Direct,” details the announcement.
The entire sponsorship amount will be paid in bitcoin. PSV is the first club to receive the entire sponsorship amount in cryptocurrency.
The club worked with crypto technology for the first time earlier this year to sell a non-fungible token (NFT) of its 1988 European Cup 1 final victory against Benfica.
Anycoin Direct, a local startup from the Eindhoven area, will be PSV’s “official partner for the next two seasons,” the club confirmed, elaborating, “The main goal is to grow awareness of crypto and Anycoin Direct in Europe.” Anycoin Direct offers the buying and selling of 28 cryptocurrencies.
Frans Jassen, PSV’s Commercial Director, said: “The future and possibilities that cryptocurrency offers are very promising. PSV is a club located in the Brainport area. We are constantly innovating and cryptocurrency fits well into that picture.” PSV also announced that Janssen, who signed the deal with Anycoin Direct immediately after the announcement, created bitcoin wallets to facilitate this partnership deal.
