Twitter Rolling Out Bitcoin Tipping Feature, Latest Code Update Suggests

Twitter is reportedly testing the option of tipping with bitcoin as part of its “Tip Jar” feature. Jack Dorsey (CEO of Twitter) stated that bitcoin was a key part of Twitter’s future and hinted that it would be part of many upcoming products.

Twitter reportedly testing Bitcoin Tipping Option

Twitter Inc., NYSE: TWTR, is said to be testing a bitcoin tipping function. This development followed CEO Jack Dorsey hinting in July that bitcoin may be integrated into several products, including Tip Jar. Macrumors reported Tuesday:

Twitter’s latest beta update introduces support for providing content creators with bitcoin tips using the ‘Tip Jar’ feature that Twitter introduced earlier this year.

“Bitcoin has not yet been made available as a tip option to beta users. However, code in the beta indicates that Twitter is currently rolling it out.” The latest Twitter beta indicates that users will be guided through a Bitcoin tutorial, which includes information on the Bitcoin Lightning Network as well as custodial and noncustodial Bitcoin wallets .

Twitter user Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) tweeted a screenshot of how to receive tips in bitcoin on Twitter. Instructions state that Strike accounts are required in order to receive bitcoin tips .

Twitter introduced Tip Jar in May. In May, the company stated that they had introduced Tip Jar and Twitter .

Dorsey stated in July that Bitcoin is an important part of Twitter’s future. He noted that bitcoin is the best candidate to be the internet’s native currency. He stated that bitcoin is a big part of Twitter’s future, and noted that it can be used to speed up the development of products like Super Follows, Commerce, Tip Jar, Tip Jar, etc., rather than relying on a market-by-market approach .”
