Localcryptos, the noncustodial P2P cryptocurrency market, has added bitcoin cash to its platform. After being rebranded as Localethereum, this is the fifth cryptocurrency that the platform has accepted for P2P transactions. The market will use the OP_CHECKDATASIG opcode which offers some benefits. Users from Bitcoin.com Local can also migrate their reputation to Localcryptos.
Localcryptos Adds Bitcoin Cash
Localcryptos, one of the leading noncustodial cryptocurrency P2P markets, has added support for bitcoin cash transactions on its platform. Localcryptos now allows users to deposit, trade and withdraw bitcoin cash. This is the fifth cryptocurrency added to the service after its rebrand from Localethereum. The company had previously added dash and litecoin to its service, following bitcoin and ethereum.
Localcryptos stated that it used the OP_CHECKDATASIG opcode to create the noncustodial bitcoin cash experience. This opcode has a number of benefits and is only available on Bitcoin Cash. Localcryptos claimed that the experience for the end-user is identical:
The non-custodial Bitcoin Cash P2SH program is simpler and more intuitive from a programmer’s point of view. It also has some benefits.
Localcryptos cannot spend the funds and can only retrieve the funds from the seller or buyer in case of dispute. Bitcoin Cash is particularly useful for noncustodial transactions, as it has low tx fees that rarely exceed one cent.
Bitcoin.com Local Closes Its Doors
Bitcoin.com Local is a P2P bitcoin cash market that will allow users to transfer their trading history to Localcryptos. The platform announced it is “passing the torch” to Localcryptos, and will allow the transfer of reputation and trading history, so users of the platform won’t have to start from scratch. Bitcoin.com Local did not announce the date but encouraged users to withdraw funds from their wallets.
The platform promises that users will receive a better service because of the larger and more liquid pool of assets Localcryptos has to offer. The announcement stated:
On Localcryptos, you’ll have 40+ ways to pay, all messages are end-to-end encrypted, and trades are facilitated by the same blockchain-powered escrow service.
