U.K. Post Office’s Easyid App now allows you to buy bitcoin, starting next week. Customers can use the free Post Office app to access Swarm Markets, which is a licensed crypto exchange, in order to purchase bitcoin and ethereum.
Buy Bitcoins and Ether using Post Office App
The U.K. Post Office has introduced an option to purchase cryptocurrencies through Easyid, the ID verification app. Customers of the Post Office who have used the app to verify their identity can purchase vouchers that can then be redeemed in cryptocurrencies.
The Easyid App will provide access to Swarm Markets beginning this week, according to the Telegraph publication. It also revealed that Swarm Markets, a Berlin-based crypto trading platform, was regulated by BaFin on Friday:
Swarm Markets partnered with Yoti to offer Easyid mobile app users a safe and easy way to buy BTC and ETH vouchers via credit card or bank transfer — as well as access the world’s 1st licensed defi [decentralized finance] platform.
According to the publication, “the Post Office won’t receive commission on vouchers but is paid by Swarm Markets in exchange for its ID verification software .”

The U.K. Post Office introduced Easyid in August, through a partnership between digital identity company Yoti. According to Yoti, Easyid is accepted at over 25,000 locations across the U.K., including 11,638 Post Office branches.
A Post Office spokesperson was quoted as saying that: “Access to products, services, and information are increasingly moving online. We’ve responded by launching our free app, Post Office Easyid. This allows people to create their own digital identity on their smartphones and allows them to control and prove who and what they are to any business they wish to interact with .”
