Ethereum is 9f Vitalik Yeterin’s brainchild. It was launched July 2015 in an attempt to compete with Bitcoin. It was not like Bitcoin in that it had many pros. One of these was the fact that it was the first blockchain to support smart contracts. It used the proof-of work consensus algorithm, just like Bitcoin.

Solana was launched by Anatoly Yakovenko in April 2019. It has smart contract functionality, just like Ethereum. It used proof-of–stake and proof–of-history consensus algorithms.

While the Ethereum blockchain made it possible to create non-fungible tokens, they are now available on the Solana marketplace. Both blockchains can do almost the exact same thing. Both are among the top ten most valuable cryptocurrencies according to market capital.

Solana’s advantage over Ethereum is speed and scalability. It can process over 50,000 transactions per second with 400ms block time. Ethereum still does between 15 and 45 transactions per second.

Because of its high throughput, transaction fees are lower than Ethereum’s. It is 4000 faster than Ethereum and does not require layer-2 scaling. Ethereum is a long-established cryptocurrency that has maintained a stable position and has been on the market for a while.

Although it still faces the blockchain trilemma it has plans in place to resolve it. Eth2 upgrades that would enable it to switch to the proof-of-stake algorithm are already in place. It would be upscaled and made ready to serve as a multichain on other platforms.

Currently, 1 ETH, the native token Ethereum, is worth $2 ,468, with a market capital of $294.1billion, while 1 SOL, the native token Solana, costs $92.. 12 with a market cap of $29 billion. This is not all. Ethereum has a first-mover advantage over Solana, and its peers.
