Designer of high-quality timepieces, TAG Heuer, is now accepting cryptocurrency for its products. Techniques d’Avant Garde, a Swiss watchmaker founded more than a century ago by Edouard Héuer, announced this week that customers in the United States will now be able to buy its watches and accessories online using multiple coins. The company explained the move in a press release:
With an increasing number of customers using or earning digital currencies regularly, TAG Heuer intends to be a key player in the imminent transformation of the e-commerce and retail spaces.
Bitpay is an alternative payment option. Buyers can spend a dozen cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin (BTC), bitcoin cash (BCH), ethereum (ETH), and dogecoin (DOGE), as well as five stablecoins. They will be able to pay up to $10,000 per transaction with no minimum spending requirements.
” We have been closely following cryptocurrency developments since bitcoin started trading,” Frederic Arnault, CEO of TAG, was quoted as saying. The executive stated that TAG Heuer was an avant-garde, innovative watchmaker and knew it would adopt the technology. “Despite the fluctuations, we knew this,” he added.
Atlanta is a Georgia-based Bitpay that provides a payment gateway service to businesses that allows them to accept cryptocurrency payments. Stephen Pair, CEO and co-founder of Bitpay, said that he is excited to see TAG Heuer and other global brands invest in crypto and seek Bitpay’s support to adapt their digital platforms to the rapid evolution of e-commerce.
A pop-up window greets customers on Tag Heuer’s U.S. site, informing them of the company’s acceptance of cryptocurrency. They will need to click “Bitpay” during checkout to spend their digital coins.
