Blockchain.com Plans to Provide an NFT Domain Name to 83 Million Wallet Users

Blockchain.com has announced it has partnered with the Web3 digital identity platform and NFT domain name provider Unstoppable Domains in order to launch .blockchain NFT domains. The company says that in the next few weeks, 83 million Blockchain.com wallet users will get a free .blockchain domain.

Blockchain.com Partners With Unstoppable Domains — Firms Launch 1st Branded Top-Level Domain

Blockchain.com has been a pioneer in the crypto space for quite some time, as the company launched the first Bitcoin (BTC) block explorer in 2011. This week, the company has announced it has teamed up with the Web3 digital identity company Unstoppable Domains. This startup is an identity company that provides Web3 services. It also offers domain names. The company has already issued over 2.4 million usernames.

The two companies announced the launch the first ever branded top level domain by Unstoppable Domains, which will be known as.blockchain. In the coming weeks, Blockchain.com says that all 83 million Blockchain.com wallet users will be able to create a free .blockchain domain name. A.blockchain domain can replace long alphanumeric crypto wallet addresses. Funds can be sent to a human-readable address like “sarah.blockchain” instead of using a long address.

The.blockchain names can be used for Web3 identifiers. This allows users to transact with decentralized apps (dapps), metaverse apps, marketplaces, and social media platforms. The chief business officer of Blockchain.com, Lane Kasselman believes that the new.blockchain function will make it easier to leverage the non-custodial wallet.

“With the.blockchain domain our users can send and receive cryptocurrency as easily as email but also own their identity in Web3,” Kasselman stated in a statement made during the announcement. Unstoppable Domains is proud to announce their partnership. This marks the first custom top level domain (TLD), and allows us to share the.blockchain domain with millions of Blockchain.com Wallet users.

Unstoppable Domains also announced that the.blockchain domains would be available via the company’s website portal. The name will be held by the owner forever once the NFT domain is claimed. To mint NFT domain names, the firm uses the Polygon blockchain. There are no renewal fees or minting fees.
