Flybondi, a low-cost Argentine airline, is introducing blockchain tech in its operations. Recently, Flybondi announced that it will begin issuing tickets in non-fungible tokens. This opens up new possibilities for customers. The tokens can be sold or transferred to travelers up to three business days before the flight.
Flybondi to Issue NFT Tickets
NFTs are becoming more popular because of the perceived advantages and benefits they bring to businesses. Flybondi, a low cost Argentine airline that uses blockchain technology in its operations has announced it will use NFTs to issue tickets. This expands the customer’s options.
The solution was created by Travelx, a company that specializes in blockchain tech development. It allows customers to transfer, trade and sell tickets, while changing names up to three days prior to the flight.
The alliance also offered the possibility to purchase these tickets via Binance Pay using stablecoins. This includes USDC at the start. Travelx stated that additional stablecoins would be added to offer customers more options.
Regarding the benefits users may enjoy with the change, Travelx stated:
This innovation in the industry will give travelers more flexibility by allowing them to plan ahead and access better rates without taking on the risk of purchasing tickets far in advance.
Web3 Creates Secondary Markets
The inclusion of Web3 technology and NFTs into such operations will create secondary markets for customers. Travelx said that the move will open new markets for customers and create a new phase in the industry.
According to Flybondi, the company is a pioneer in implementing this type of functionality and expects other companies to do the same if it succeeds.
Projects that use NFTs in their operations have increased by a lot this year. On September 8, the European Union announced a plan to use NFTs to protect intellectual property and fight counterfeiting. In August, a report issued by Grand View Research, a market research company, estimated the NFT market will grow to reach $200 billion in 2030.
